Let's celebrate Chinese New Year with easy peasy Chinese-Thai style rice noodle soup with yummy meatballs. Noodle or "Kway Teow” (ก๋วยเตี๋ยว) means rice noodles in a Chinese dialect.Noodle dishes came from China a long time ago and expanded to Thailand almost 400 years ago. During World War II, Thailand suffered a rice shortage due to the war itself and floods. The Thai government of Prime Minister Plaek Phibunsongkram promoted eating noodle dishes in the national policy of Thailand to support economics and to establish the identity of Thailand. The government instructed Thai people to eat noodles daily. They also used a song call Kway Teow to support this endeavour by telling people about its benefits.
Interesting Belief on Chinese New Year:
Do not break the noodle otherwise life/relationship would be broken
Do wear red, a lucky colour
Cook or have 8 dishes because number 8 is a luckiest number, avoid 4 dishes as 4 is bad luck number
Do not clean the house on the new year day, this will clear out good luck
Do clean the house before new year to get good spirit into your home
